This division is responsible for the investigation and treatment of:

Lung tuberculosis
Pleural tuberculosis
Tuberculosis of the lymph glands
Bronchial tuberculosis
It also manages suspect cases of infection or disease (latent tuberculosis), as well as other inflammatory changes in the lungs, pleura, thoracic organs and bronchi.

The latest diagnostic methods are being used, such as: flexibile bronchoscopy, pleural puncture, determining the level of gamma-interferon, ultrasound of thoracic organs, etc.
The DOT method is being used in the treatment of tuberculosis or in prophylaxis of latent tuberculosis.
